What is Yield Pickup?

Yield Pickup is the additional yield earned by switching from a low-yielding instrument to a higher-yielding one.

For example, moving from a 6.5% G-Sec to a 7.2% AAA-rated corporate bond results in a 70 bps yield pickup.

This is common in bond portfolio management by mutual funds and treasuries.
